Why You Should Get Passionate About Teaching English In Korea

In this video today I make a very important point for you to consider if you’re thinking of English in Korea. Coming to teach English in Korea is one of the most rewarding and life changing things you can do but there’s one important point you need to consider before you get started…

Yup, so to my mind it’s absolutely essential that you are willing to become passionate or, at the very least, be willing to do what it takes so that the kids of Korea aren’t being let down.

Don’t be the person who messes around and doesn’t care about their students.

Should You Only Teach If You Feel Like Teaching Is A Calling?

This is actually a contentious issue here in Korea. A lot of people believe the English program in Korea is failing and it’s the fault of the government for choosing to bring in recent graduates who may or may not know what they’re doing instead of qualified educators.

Is this the case? Perhaps. But for the time being this is the way it is and I for one am happy about it because it gave me the opportunity to teach here.

This means that teaching doesn’t have to be something you’ve chosen as a career. You can come and do it for a period and then you can stop. Or carry on.

I personally think it’s okay to come over here and teach and enjoy life in Korea even if you don’t plan to be a teacher forever SO LONG AS you are willing to give it your all and do what it takes to make sure you give these kids the best you can. IDEALLY you want to be passionate about it and you should at least come here open to letting teaching become a passion.

So hopefully you’ll bare this in mind and ask yourself if this is the right job for you or not. If you do think it’s the right thing for you then good luck with your journey and you can get in contact with me if you need any help with the process of coming over! 🙂
