4 Weeks of Classroom English Teacher (TESOL) Training
The program includes a 4 week classroom training at Ninja Teacher Academy in the heart of Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.
Our 150 hour TESOL course is delivered over 4 weeks in the classroom with an emphasis on gaining practical teaching skills.
Classes run from Monday to Friday 9am - 4pm, with a lunch break, and observations and solo teaching take place on some evenings and some weekend days.
Learn Theory & Practical Teaching Skills
In your classroom sessions you'll learn all of the skills and methodologies needed to teach English in a fully-immersion based classroom, where you are not speaking your students’ native language, including:
- How to lesson plan using this methodology.
- How to manage a classroom and deal with behavioral issues, encourage and reward good behavior, and keep students engaged.
- How to teach all of the skills, like reading, listening, speaking, and writing, etc.
- And many other things!
This in-person training plus the practical experience outlined is essential to being able to conduct an effective lesson, and schools ask you to conduct a demonstration lesson before they hire you!
Actually Teach & Observe Classes With Real Students
Observations: 6 hours
6 hours observing experienced ESL teachers conducting lessons with Vietnamese students of varying ages and levels in real schools in Vietnam.
Peer Teaching: 1 Day
1 full day of peer teaching where you teach a lesson in front of your classmates, observe each other and get feedback and assessment on your teaching from your trainer.
Solo Teaching: 6 Hours
6 solo teaching hours taught by you to real Vietnamese learners in real schools. You will receive feedback on your teaching by our team so that you can improve your teaching throughout the training.

Job Placement In Teaching Job in Vietnam
This job placement assistance takes place during the final week of the program. We’ll conduct a CV workshop to ensure your resume is ready to go, and during the first few days of Week 4, you’ll be greeted by some of Vietnam’s most-established employers while they provide you with more information on what positions they’re hiring for, what they offer, and what it’s like to work with them. This gives you the opportunity to get to know the market and see what you like and don’t like about various employers in Vietnam.
After you complete the employer presentations, we’ll conduct our Career Readiness module, in which we prepare you for the hiring process and conduct our 1-on-1 job coaching sessions - unique to the Ninja Teacher program! We’ll spend time chatting with you to determine what you’re looking for in a teaching position, and answer any questions that you might have as you prepare to go into the hiring process.
From there, we’ll submit your application directly to schools that seem to be lined up with what you’re looking for, and they’ll contact you to schedule interviews and demos, etc. We’ll be there alongside ensuring you’re getting interviews set up, that offers are coming in, and that ultimately you accept a teaching position here in Vietnam!
Accommodation
We're based in center of the city which offers hundreds of nearby accommodation options. Once enrolled we'll suggest housing options near Ninja Teacher Academy. The cost of accommodation in Ho Chi Minh City is very affordable and there many short term housing options that you can choose from while completing your training and job placement, after which you'll typically find an apartment in an area you like and based on your job location. Requirements
Before enrolling you will need to submit an application and chat to our Enrollment Manager in order to be offered a spot.
- A Bachelors degree in any subject is required by the Vietnamese government. The degree can be of any major as long as it is a full bachelors degree from an English speaking university / college. Don't have a degree? Consider taking our Online TEFL and teaching English online or in Cambodia.
- Native English speaker with a passport from either the United States of America, United Kingdom, Canada, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand or South Africa.
- Able to pass a basic health check at a Vietnamese hospital.
- Clean criminal background (some exceptions may apply.)
