Arriving in Korea Part 1: The Flight

I’ve just had my first good nights sleep after arriving in Korea yesterday. I got maybe 5 hours sleep in 48 hours of traveling. Surprisingly, I had loads of energy the whole trip and was feeling great the entire time.

The Trip

There were a whole bunch of different things I was feeling during the trip. The most dominant feeling by far was EXCITEMENT.

I also had this moment where I realized I was doing the right thing. This happened after I transferred to my connecting flight in Hong Kong. The Chinese and Koreans are very different looking people, actually, and when all the Koreans filled into my flight to Seoul I just had this moment of clarity where I knew this year was going to be AMAZING

When I was arriving in Korea I was also struck by how the the Korean people look really… Cool. And the girls are HOT. Flying in to Seoul Int Airport was quite something.

Highlights

The best part was the surreal feeling that came from lack of sleep plus the excitement I was talking about.

Other than that, the snow capped mountains and view of the city of Taipei, Taiwan were amazing. The sunrise over the clouds from the window of my plane was amazing and trippy, considering it should have been 1am back home!

The Hong Kong airstrip was also really cool, as it stretches out into the ocean and you feel like you’re going to crash land in the water before it suddenly appears under the plane.

Also, meeting all the other teachers has been great. There’s over 300 of us at orientation. You’ll see a few of them that I met in the video!

The Video

Anyway, Here’s the video of the flight over, including me meeting some of the other teachers and failing at speaking Korean…

Hope you enjoyed it!

The video I mentioned about reasons why you should teach Korea is right over here if you’re interested in why I chose to go to Korea.

Stay tuned for the next vid which I’ve started filming already on our Orientation week 🙂

Thanks 🙂 It’s actually kind of nice to have something like this to ground the experience in reality… It’s all pretty dreamlike right now
