Vietnam Reduces Quarantine To 7 Days For Fully Vaccinated New Arrivals

Vietnam is reducing  quarantine period for fully vaccinated new arrivals in the country from 14 days to 7 days. Let’s talk about it.

The news was announced on the official Vietnamese Ministry of Health website this week.

This likely means the 7 day quarantine trial that they piloted in July near Ha Long bay went well and they’re making this the country wide standard. I made a video about that trial if you want to check it out.

So this applies to those who are vaccinated OR recovered and have a negative COVID test. This will mean:

  • Quarantine for 7 days.
  • Self monitoring for 7 days.

This is really good news as it means only 7 days instead of the 14 days, even 21 days it was at one point, which drastically reduces the cost of expensive quarantine hotels. Then you can move into cheaper accommodation and do self health declarations through an app and follow social distancing rules for 7 more days. You also only need a test on the first day and the 7th day.

That being said, Vietnam is going through it’s worst outbreak so far right now and most of the country is under strict social distancing measures.

For reasons I explained in my last video, I don’t want this channel to be about the pandemic news in Vietnam, and rather focus on updates about when it does become more possible to move to Vietnam.

So, you can follow the regular news for that info, overall the current situation means things have not improved with regards to moving to Vietnam to teach English as most employers aren’t hiring anyone from abroad.

We’ll keep you updated on this as usual. Many people who want to teach in Vietnam are opting to take an online TEFL course right now to get certified to teach English, so if you’re interested in that you can get TEFL certified online in the meantime:
